A good time was had by all at the final leg of the skittles despite the rather damp and windy weather. We had postponed the event from the previous day due to the forecast which actually turned out to be wrong!
Having already played 3 rounds of skittles – normal, wrong hand and single pin attempts in the village hall during the year, the final was on a traditional outdoor wooden alley and participants had one normal attempt followed by an attempt with a blindfold. The latter proved very difficult with some people throwing the ball completely off course. Points were awarded for each round and added up. The overall winner by a single point was Sue Smith who gets to keep the KC Cup for a year again, having won it 2 years ago on family games day. The prize for best score for 5 and under, a child’s set of garden skittles, was won by Henry Bailey.
There were prizes for the best on the day as well won by Jon Lawes and Rachael Lawes! No piglets were won but some pork scratchings and Percy Pig sweets accompanied a bottle of wine and a couple of beers with wild boars on the labels!
The day before we decided to run a raffle in aid of the BVI community fund which is for aid after hurricane IRMA. Thank you to everyone who donated a prize. We also split the BBQ and Skittles profit between Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the hurricane fund. £150 to the Air Ambulance and £250 to the hurricane fund.
Sunday 11th June 10.00-13.00 in the village hall.
You do not need to be there for the whole 3 hours. It takes 10-15 minutes to complete the 3 sections with 4 chances on each. BUT if you are pushed for time some of you still have 3 scores from the Ladies Cub skittles in February which can be counted for one section of the competition and if you are really short of time you could always ‘trust to luck’(or skill!) and take just one chance for each section.
Current accumulated scores range from 16-31 but this could all change when we play 2 more sections in September, so anyone is in with a chance of winning. Come along and give it a go. Adults £4, school age children £2.
