KC Cup Photographic Competition

display of photosWhat an excellent response to the competition. There were 22 adults exhibiting 81 photos and 5 child exhibiting 11 photos. The display at the village hall last weekend during the art and craft show was very impressive. Such an array of subjects and what a lot of talent.

Thank you to Roy McDine from Trowbridge Camera Club for judging the entries and presenting the prizes. Apart from having a better idea of what to look for than myself he also worked with Kevin in Westbury and then Trowbridge when we first moved to Great Hinton 30 years ago.

The winner of the children’s prize was Sophia Covey and second was Ellen Britton Le Bihan. Winning the adult section and also the overall prize of the KC Cup was Diane Norris.

I have made a calendar for 2017 of the best 12 entries and hope to have a copy for viewing next week (unfortunately due to courier problems it was not available at the exhibition) If you would like to see it and possibly order one please give me a call. The cost will be £10.

Queen’s 90th Birthday – Village Street Party

On Sunday 12th June we gathered as a village community at the top end of Peppercorn Orchard to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday.   Both sandwiches and cakes were brought along and shared amongst the residents.  The afternoon was a very pleasant and sociable event which also included a children’s’ competition for “the best made crown”.  Well done to Emily and Harry Copper for jointly winning the prize.

We were very fortunate with the weather – dark clouds and drizzle in the morning but rain stayed away for the actual afternoon event where we even managed to have our very own village fly-past thanks to the local flying club.

Thanks to all those who helped make the event a huge success.

Fantastic funds raised at Great Hinton Fete 2016

f1There were smiles all round as the rain held off just long enough for visitors to enjoy all that was on offer at the Great Hinton Village Fete, which this year supported Hope Nature Centre.

The total funds that were presented to Hope Nature Centre as a result of the the fete, and some additional funds from previous activities, came to a fantastic grand total of £676.

A total of £215 was also donated to the village hall funds which was a quarter of the fete profit.

Thank you to all who supported us by turning up or helping out.

Well done everyone
