Carpet Bowls Club

Great Hinton Indoor BowlsAs members will know, we have applied for a grant from the Melksham Area Board to cover the cost of a Bowls Carpet Carrier.

I am delighted to report that the Board headed by our Councillor, Jonathan Seed, voted in favour of our project and awarded the full amount of £300.

The installation of the new Carpet Carrier is going to save us from a lot of crawling around on the Village Hall floor rolling up and storing the carpet, and now that it can be correctly stored on the Carrier, the life of the carpet will be extended.

Our thanks to Joe Norris who suggested that his son Robert could construct the Carrier to the design as prepared and charge us for materials only saving us £250.00 against the the lowest of three tenders received.

Our fourth season has now started with the Christmas Knock Out Competition under way.

The Bowls Club is a great way of spending a couple hours each week and is open to all Villagers (Contact Mike Truman 870607 for full details).

There are two sessions on Mondays at 14:30 -16:30 & 19:30 -21:30 at a cost of £1.50 which includes tea/coffee and TWO biscuits.
